Inside Stout Public House — the bi-level bar lined with hockey jerseys

Est. 2007

Downtown San Diego’s neighborhood Irish pub & hockey bar — just off the Gaslamp.

The kind of place the industry crowd comes to after a shift, and first‑timers get the same welcome as the regulars. Stop in before or after a Padres game or a show at the House of Blues for a perfectly poured Guinness, the best Reuben of your life, and the game on every screen.

A pint of Guinness on the bar outside Stout

Since 2007 · Sixth Avenue

An Irish pub run with a Canadian’s love of hockey.

Stout opened in 2007, founded by publicans Dave Toth and Mark Prendergast around a simple, slightly unusual idea. Dave’s a die‑hard Canucks fan, and it shows — every NHL game is on the screens, the reigning Stanley Cup champion’s jersey hangs on the wall among a deep stack of hockey history, and Canada Day is its own kind of holiday here.

Tucked just off the Gaslamp, out of the downtown hustle, Stout is the neighborhood pub where the service‑industry crowd lands after their shifts, the regulars know each other by name, and out‑of‑towners make it their first stop every time they’re back in San Diego.

More than a few friendships, and the odd big idea, have started over a pint here.
